Just happened to log on to the site and noticed that Power left a review of the new jurassic world flick. First things first I am neither a fan nor a hater of the so called jurassic group of movies. For the most part Rebirth follows in the footsteps of its predecessors. Were I to rate the titles by pairings it would be og trilogy -> rebirth -> new trilogy. By individual installments it would be lost world -> jurassic park -> jurassic world -> jurassic park 3 -> fallen kingdom -> rebirth -> dominion. That is if I had to choose a rated order. Fallen kingdom and rebirth are about the same to me. Power argued that the simplicity of the plot was a plus for the story. Not to say his opinion is wrong, but I do not agree. I feel like the director tried to make the script run of the mill to avoid any risks after dominion was panned so heavily. Rebirth was enjoyable do not get me wrong. Just failed to reach the potential it could have. Although it falls were I would expect in the domestic numbers @ 91 million vs jurassic world’s 208 million. Global numbers of over 300 million makes it hard to argue the director’s decision was a mistake. Aside from the story being a typical of the franchise the d-rex and mutadons were ugly bland and everything wrong with the movie. They serve little purpose do very little in the grand scheme of the movie and overall feel like forced creations to have a new big bad dino. This is where Power and I agree. The d-rex being an abomination from several different franchise films is stupid to be frank. Mixed with no explanation of what it is supposed to be sourced from in the real world makes it even worse. If I wanted to watch star wars I would watch star wars. If I wanted to watch alien I would watch alien. Why everything has to be a mashup of everything else anymore is irritating. A process that makes everything seem bland. If I knew what the dinosaur was supposed to be a mixture of I would not even need to know how it failed to make it look the way it does. As it stands it just an ill thought out nod to the director’s favorite series creatures. Regarding the hybrids I would order them indoraptor -> indominous rex -> mutadon -> d-rex. At least the mutadon we know is raptor and some pterosaur. d-rex is t-rex and ??? fictious animal maybe?

Ranking as a film without thinking too hard – 6.5 maybe 7 / 10

Ranking as a film all things considered – 5 maybe 5.5 / 10

Which is sad to say since the actors were so invested in the movie and played their roles so well.

Thank you for your time and keep it frosty.
